How to Cancel TracFone Service & Auto-Refill (and Stop the Charges)
Prepaid means there is nothing to cancel except the automatic payments. Here is how to stop Auto-Refill, what changed in 2026, and what to do if you are charged anyway.
The short answer
- ▸TracFone is prepaid with no contract or cancellation fee. To "cancel," stop paying and the service expires at the end of your service period.
- ▸Turn off Auto-Refill at tracfone.com: My Account > Manage Auto Refill. Or call 1-800-867-7183.
- ▸Since February 11, 2026, Auto-Refill is set for the whole account. You cannot leave it on for one line and off for another.
- ▸Switching carriers? Move your number first, then turn off Auto-Refill.
How to turn off TracFone Auto-Refill
- 1.Sign in at tracfone.com (or in the Tracfone My Account app).
- 2.Open My Account and choose Manage Auto Refill.
- 3.Cancel the Auto-Refill enrollment and confirm.
- 4.Take a screenshot of the confirmation screen or save the email. This is your proof if you are charged again.
- 5.If you cannot sign in, call 1-800-867-7183, ask to cancel Auto-Refill, and get a ticket number.
To be safe, cancel a few days before your next refill date. Also remove your saved card under payment methods so it cannot be charged again.
What changed on February 11, 2026
TracFone now sets Auto-Refill at the account level. Payments apply to every line in the account with a single payment method. When the change happened, lines not on Auto-Refill were moved into a separate account. If you manage phones for family members, turning off Auto-Refill now affects every line on that account.
Cancelling TracFone service completely
There is no contract to end. Once Auto-Refill is off, your service runs until the service end date and then expires. Before you let it lapse:
- ▸Want to keep your number? Transfer it to the new carrier first. A lapsed number may be lost.
- ▸Back up contacts and photos, and turn off two-step login codes tied to this number.
- ▸Remaining minutes and days are not refunded.
Charged after you cancelled?
- 1.Call customer care with your cancellation screenshot and ask for a refund. Get a ticket number.
- 2.If they refuse, dispute the charge with your bank or card issuer as an unauthorized recurring charge. Act quickly; dispute windows are often 60 days.
- 3.File an FCC informal complaint about the charge.
